Laurent Salzard Born on France's Atlantic West Coast and raised in La Rochelle, I fell in love with music in High School, specially attracted by the bass guitar. Being self taught for the first couple years of my learning, I decided to move to Paris in order to learn and practice music more seriously and to get immersed into a more dense musical environment. The "real thing"!... I studied one year at the "CIM" Paris jazz school and graduated from Evry's Conservatory with High Honors. From then I began playing around as much as I could with as different people as I could. In 2007, I did an audition and won a scholarship that allowed me to go and study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I spent one year and learned a lot! I was fortunate to study with teachers like Matt Garrison, Bruce Gertz, Aruan Ortiz, Eguie castrillo, Dave Fiuckzynski.... I share or have shared the stage with: The Claude Diallo Situation, Nourou, Kankele, Project K-Paz, Kesiena, Nat Jones, Nguyen Le, Fuze, Eguie Castrillo, Aruan Ortiz, Denzal Sinclaire, Andy McGhee, Ojan Septet, Nu-Tone, Maureen Angot, Beat Kaestli, Andy Guthrie, Sabrina Adel, Segun Ola, Edouard Brenneisen, Cedric Hanriot, Serghio Jansen, Mohammed Kalifa Kamara, Tim Mayer..... I was pleased to perform in some of the best venues in Paris (Zenith, New Morning, Duc des Lombards, Sunset), all around Europe (Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, germany, Belgium) and at international festivals (the Montreux Jazz Festival, Paris Jazz a la Villette, Aruba Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival)... I was also very happy to record 'Project K-Paz' CD & DVD in the prestigious Avatar Studios in NY in 2009.
